This post will show you the best ways to style your porch this fall.
As autumn starts to roll in, my porch becomes my favorite place to decorate for fall. It’s the first thing everyone will see and sets the fall vibes for my home.
I want that inviting, warm feeling from the inside of my home to start at the outside. Just a few small touches can make a big difference.
Whether you want to go all out or just need a few simple ways to transform your porch, read on, and you’ll find 25 of my favorite fall porch decor ideas – affordable, easy, and will instantly add seasonal charm to your home.
25 Porch Fall Decor Ideas
1. Layered Doormats

Start with a warm, welcoming layered doormat. I love a bigger plaid or striped patterned rug placed under my “welcome” mat.
It adds a cozy element to my porch, welcoming fall as well as my guests.
2. Piles of Pumpkins

Pumpkins are the vegetable of fall. If you’re not stacking them up on the porch, then is it really fall?
Bonus tip – place a range of colors and shapes of pumpkins on the porch, the more variety, the better the look.
3. Seasonal Wreaths

Wreaths are one of the first things I will use as decor for my porch. Leaves, pinecones, dried wheat, flowers, and pumpkins. I love an orange and green wreath; it screams autumn.
4. Cozy Lanterns

For that evening warm glow on your porch, lanterns are a must. I love to use flameless candles or fairy lights for that warm lighting. I love to place them near the pumpkins.
5. Fall Flowers & Mums

Mums are autumn’s unofficial flower. I always have a few potted mums on the porch and windowsills.
They look amazing paired with pumpkins and bring a whole new texture to your porch.
6. Rustic Baskets or Crates

If you’re looking for some props to fill with flowers, pumpkins, or even blankets, etc, then wicker baskets or wooden crates are a must. They bring that rustic farmhouse kind of fall feeling.
7. Corn Stalks or Dried Grasses

For that harvest look you need dried grasses or corn stalks. Not only do they bring an element of farm to your porch, but they fit perfectly with the fall theme.
8. String Lights

Wrap string lights/fairy lights on the railings, or drape them across the entry. Warm lighting will instantly make your porch feel inviting. The glow of autumn will leave you in awe.
9. Plaid Throw on a Bench or Chair

If you have seating on your porch, then I highly recommend pairing a plaid blanket with some fall cushions on your bench. Perfect for sipping on a pumpkin spice latte while curling up with a book.
10. Wooden or Chalkboard Signs

I love to prop up a sign with a little greeting to welcome everybody before they even knock on the door.
It can be something as simple as “hay there, pumpkin” or “welcome to our cozy corner”. I love cheesy fall greetings.
11. A Touch of Metallics

An accent material that would look amazing on your porch is all kinds of metallics. From gold lanterns to Copper planters. A perfect highlight that meshes well with your fall decor.
12. Natural Pinecones & Acorns

Pinecones and acorns leave a fresh, earthy smell and feel like fall. They are the perfect decor item as their free, virtually everywhere, and can be placed inside as well as outside.
13. Apple Baskets

A crate of apples is the perfect decor item you need for your porch. They give a colorful, farmhouse look and are perfect to have lying around for an apple pie recipe.
14. Vintage Milk Cans or Watering Cans

There’s something about vintage items that creates coziness. And so I try to add elements of vintage to my porch by repurposing containers.
I usually fill them with branches or flowers for that vintage-country vibe.
15. Gingham or Buffalo Check Accents

Whether it’s a rug or a small patterned pillow, add some gingham or buffalo check elements. You’ll be bringing the fall vibes without going overboard.
16. Scarecrows (Small Ones!)

Why not bring some nostalgia to your porch by having a mini scarecrow hidden among the pumpkins, crates, or flowers.
17. Wheat Bundles

Prop up some tied-up dried wheat against your door or place it in a basket or amongst the vegetables for some rustic charm.
18. Seasonal Door Hanger

If you’re looking for something a little different this fall, then instead of a wreath, why not go for a seasonal hanging basket. You can place mums or faux leaves, pumpkins, etc..
19. Welcome Wagon or Wheelbarrow

Let’s celebrate the fall harvest by placing it all in the wheelbarrow. Pumpkins, gourds, squash, corn, etc, are the perfect fall statement piece for your porch.
20. Cozy Outdoor Rug

Make the porch an extension of your living room by replacing your summer rug with a fall one.
It doesn’t have to be a certain pattern or print; you can just stick to a shade such as burnt orange, maroon, or a mustard yellow.
21. Dried Corn or Indian Corn Bundles

I love to use ribbon to tie ears of corn together, and then set them near the steps or different parts of my porch.
22. Mini Hay Bales

Use mini hay bales as the foundation for your other decor items. I normally stack a few hay bales and top them with lanterns, harvest veggies, or mums.
23. Faux Leaf Garlands

For that fall charm, I like to use faux autumn leaves with twine to drape garlands on the railings, windows, and even above the doorway.
24. Seasonal Doorknob Accents

It’s true when they say it’s all in the details. Tie a bow of plaid ribbon to your door handle, or tie mini pumpkins/acorns for that little touch.
25. A Pop of Colorful Paint

And last but not least, if you want to make a statement this fall, give your front door a lick of seasonal paint. I’m talking a pumpkin orange or a cottage green to really set the tone for fall.
Final Thoughts
You don’t have to spend a fortune on decorating your porch for fall. Sometimes all it takes is some thrifting, cozy lighting, and a few bits of squash here and some pumpkin there.
The great thing about all these decor ideas is that, whether you adopt a few or all 25, your porch is going to feel like the most welcoming, coziest spot in your neighborhood.
For me, it’s not about the haunted look; it’s about feeling warm and inviting when walking up to my home.
